Gorgias is the most-installed helpdesk in the Shopify ecosystem, and the number that gets quoted most is "15,000+ brands." That number is real, it comes straight from Gorgias, and it is only one line of a much bigger scorecard. If you are sizing up Gorgias as a buyer, an investor, or a competitor, you want the whole picture: revenue, valuation, funding, market share, headcount, and what 15,000 merchants actually do on the platform every year.

This post pulls every public Gorgias figure for 2025 into one place, each one tied to a named source. Where a number is a third-party estimate rather than a figure Gorgias confirmed, it says so.

Gorgias by the numbers (2025), at a glance.

  • Customers: 15,000+ ecommerce brands, including roughly 40% of the top 1,500 Shopify brands.
  • Revenue: about $69M ARR in 2024, up 34% year over year, on a $530M valuation.
  • Scale: 350M+ shopper conversations in 2025, of which nearly 10M turned into a purchase.

Most $10M-$100M Shopify brands evaluating Gorgias are already paying for a helpdesk plus a phone line that goes to voicemail after 6 p.m. If that is you, book a 30-min call and we will show you where the call volume your helpdesk never sees is actually going.

Here is the full scorecard in one table, with every figure sourced in the sections below.

How many customers does Gorgias have?

The headline answer: Gorgias serves 15,000+ ecommerce brands as of 2025. Gorgias states this figure itself, both in its January 2025 platform announcement ("trusted by over 15,000 ecommerce brands") and in independent coverage from Sacra.

There is a second, slightly larger number worth knowing. Gorgias's State of Conversational Commerce 2026 report was built on data from 16,000+ Gorgias brands. So depending on the cut date, the active-brand count sits somewhere between 15,000 and 16,000. If you are still deciding whether Gorgias is the right fit, our Gorgias features rundown and is Gorgias a CRM or a support platform explainer both go deeper than the raw counts.

The customer count that actually matters for a competitive read is not the raw 15,000, it's the concentration at the top of the Shopify market. Per Sacra, Gorgias powers roughly 40% of the top 1,500 Shopify brands and is Shopify's only Premier Partner for CX. That is the number that explains why almost every mid-market and Plus brand you talk to already runs Gorgias or has at some point.

One caution: a few secondary review blogs cite "155,000 companies." That figure does not match anything Gorgias has published and contradicts its own 15,000+ statement, so treat it as an error and ignore it.

Gorgias revenue and valuation

Gorgias does not publish audited financials, but Sacra's equity research gives the most-cited revenue picture. Gorgias reached roughly $69M in ARR in 2024, growing 34% year over year.

According to Sacra, the revenue trajectory looks like this:

Year ARR (estimated) Growth
2024 ~$69M 34%
2023 ~$51M ~104%
2022 ~$25M n/a

That is a brand that nearly tripled revenue in two years, then settled into a slower 34% growth rate as it scaled past $50M, which is a normal curve for a Series-C SaaS company.

On valuation, Gorgias was last valued at $530M in its May 2024 round, per both Sacra and PitchBook. If you divide that valuation by 2024 ARR, you get a revenue multiple in the high single digits, which is roughly in line with where private vertical-SaaS companies have traded in 2024-2025.

Gorgias funding history

Gorgias has raised about $104M across 9 rounds, per Tracxn. Sacra rounds this to "$100M+," so the two sources agree within a few million.

The most recent raise was a Series C in 2024. Some trackers label it Series C-II, a roughly $29M tranche reported in May 2024 by Signalbase, which lines up with the $530M post-money valuation Sacra dates to that same Series C, and it is why you will sometimes see the round split into two parts across databases.

  • Total raised: ~$104M across 9 rounds (Tracxn)
  • Latest round: Series C, 2024 (~$29M tranche per Signalbase)
  • Post-money valuation: $530M (May 2024)
  • Founded: 2015, by Romain Lapeyre and Alex Plugaru

Worth keeping in perspective: $104M raised against ~$69M ARR is a relatively capital-efficient build for a company this size, especially compared with the AI-support startups raising nine figures pre-revenue. We cover where those competitors land in our Gorgias alternatives breakdown.

Gorgias headcount

Gorgias does not publish an official employee count, so this section leans on third-party trackers, which is why the numbers come as a range rather than a single figure. Gorgias employs somewhere in the 450 to 525 range as of late 2025 into early 2026.

  • ~452 employees as of December 2025, with 453 in 2025 (a 10.5% increase over 2024), per Revelio Labs
  • ~521 employees as of March 2026, per LeadIQ

Treat these as estimated, not confirmed. Headcount trackers pull from LinkedIn and other public signals, so they lag reality and disagree with each other by a few dozen people. The useful takeaway is direction: the team is growing, not shrinking, roughly in step with revenue.

At ~$69M ARR across ~450-500 people, revenue per employee lands somewhere around $135K-$155K, which is healthy-but-not-elite for SaaS at this stage.

Gorgias on the Shopify App Store

This is where the freshest numbers live, and where most articles quote stale ones. We pulled the live App Store listing on 2026-06-19. The Gorgias Helpdesk app holds a 4.2 out of 5 rating across 648 reviews.

The rating distribution is more interesting than the average:

  • 83% of reviews are 5 stars (536 reviews)
  • 10% of reviews are 1 star (65 reviews)
  • The remaining 7% spread across 2 to 4 stars

That barbell shape, a heavy top and a heavy bottom, is common for billing-heavy tools. The 5-star reviews praise the Shopify integration and macros; a large share of the 1-star reviews cite per-ticket billing surprises, which lines up with independent reviews like Zipchat's teardown of how a $360 plan can climb toward $960. For a full read on what people actually say, see our roundup of Gorgias AI customer service reviews, and how it stacks up against the field in our Gorgias vs Richpanel comparison.

Note: review counts move. The 648 figure is accurate as of mid-June 2026, and you should re-check the live listing before quoting it.

What 15,000 Gorgias brands actually do (platform activity)

The customer count is a static number. The activity behind it shows the scale Gorgias is operating at. From the State of Conversational Commerce 2026 report, built on 16,000+ brands:

  • 350M+ conversations with shoppers across the platform in 2025
  • ~10M of those conversations turned into a purchase
  • AI handled an average of 31% of customer interactions, a figure Gorgias expects to approach 50% within two years

That 31% number is the one buyers should sit with. It is the platform-wide average for how much of support AI is actually handling today, and it is a long way from the "AI handles everything" pitch. For more benchmarks on where AI sits across the channel, see our ecommerce customer service statistics for 2026. Gorgias's own marketing claims its AI Agent can resolve up to 50% of email inquiries autonomously, but that is a vendor ceiling on one channel, not the measured average. Independent analysis of published Gorgias case studies puts real-world automation closer to 26-56%.

The gap between the marketed automation rate and the measured one is the single most important number in this whole post, because that gap is where your team is still paying per ticket. And it is almost entirely a text-and-email gap. None of these figures touch the phone, which is the channel where the most expensive, most repetitive calls (order status, returns, the same questions over and over) still land on a human or a voicemail box.

Where Ringly fits next to these numbers

Ringly.io is AI phone support for Shopify brands. Gorgias owns the inbox. Ringly handles the calls Gorgias was never built to answer, and it escalates cleanly into Gorgias when a human is needed, so you keep your current helpdesk, number, and workflows.

Here is the contrast that matters when you put the numbers side by side. Gorgias reports AI handling ~31% of interactions on average across its base. Across 50+ active brands, Ringly's AI resolves 73% of inbound calls autonomously at roughly $0.42 per resolved call, versus $7-$16 per call for a human BPO.

The proof point we point buyers to: WashCo, a Shopify brand we launched recently, generated $22,664 in attributed revenue in the first 7 days post-launch, with 271 calls handled and a $0.91 per-call cost against $2.70 for a human-handled call. That is revenue from calls a voicemail box would have eaten.

The AI answers inbound calls 24/7, finds orders in your Shopify store, processes returns and exchanges, answers product questions from your knowledge base, and rescues abandoned carts. Plans: Grow $349/mo, Pro $799/mo, Enterprise by call. Live in under an hour, backed by a 65% resolution guarantee. You can read how the two tools sit together in our Gorgias Shopify integration guide, and the cost side in the Gorgias pricing breakdown.
